Local McDonald’s awards $56,000 in scholarships

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The recipients of the McDonald’s American Samoa scholarships for 2024 were honored Thursday night, June 27, 2024 by the company owner and president, Tautolo Charlie Tautolo and the McDonald Scholarship Board.

The four recipients are:

1. Kristina Timoteo — ASCC graduate-$20,000 off island scholarship. She is attending Utah Tech University, majoring in business.

2. Katherine Betham — ASCC graduate-$20,000 scholarship. She is attending the University of Hawaii, Manoa majoring in political science.

3. Aukuso Fruean — Samoana High School graduate-$8,000 scholarship. He is attending ASCC, majoring in health science.

4. Valerya Mann — Tafuna High School graduate-$8,000 scholarship.  She is attending ASCC, majoring in health science.

The McDonald’s- American Samoa Scholarship Board members are Vice President Dolores Tautolo Galeai,  Evelyn Gebauer, Donna Gurr, Dr Emelia Le’i and Katie leilua.

McDonald’s- American Samoa introduced its scholarship awards in 2016.
