Lemanu admin taking stock of operations

Gov. Lemanu Peleti Mauga

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Lemanu-Talauega Administration is conducting an assessment of ASG operations, through a Gap Analysis questionnaire which all departments and agencies are expected to complete and submit no later than 4p.m. on May 9th.

“One of the distinguishing features of well-managed organizations, is its willingness to regularly reassess priority, adapt to changing times and continually strive to improve its performance,” wrote Gov. Lemanu Peleti Palepoi Sialega Mauga in an Apr. 28 memorandum to Executive Branch cabinet members.

“To assist departments in meeting objectives and executing the Administration’s mission it is crucial that we identify and address any gaps in our operations,” the governor said and noted that a complete overview of functions and process in place enables a full assessment of ASG’s operations.

The governor’s memo includes the Gap Analysis questionnaire and Lemanu informed his directors that information provided, “will help inform our decision making and prioritize goals and objectives.”

Among the questions outlined in the questionnaire are the number of positions in the department/ agency, how many are filled, how many are vacant along with the explanation on why it’s vacant. Cabinet members are also asked to list the number of employees in each age category — from age group 18- 25 to age group 68- 76 years old.

The governor is also requesting documents such as the vision and mission; and organizational chart. Cabinet members are requested to conduct S.W.O. T (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis of the department/agency.

PORT ACTING DIRECTOR

Meanwhile, the governor — in a separate memo —  informed cabinet members that Port Administration director Christopher J. King will be off island Apr. 28 to June 23.

Lemanu designated Falenaoti Loi On Fruean as acting director until King returns.
