Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — A special farewell luncheon was held last Wednesday for one of the four physicians lending a hand at the LBJ hospital, Dr Audrey Tarr.
She served at the LBJ hospital for over a year and she is part of a team from the LDS volunteer doctor program.
Dr Tarr and her husband Elder David, are returning home early due to family needs. In attendance at the farewell were Lt Governor Talauega E.V. Ale and members of the LBJ board of directors, doctors and the hospital’s acting Chief Executive Officer Dr Akapusi Ledua.
Dr Ledua acknowledged the work done by Dr Tarr for the people of American Samoa and said that she will be missed at the LBJ, especially by her patients.
The hospital’s last newsletter says Dr Tarr has been involved in the female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgeon for over 27.
Dr. Tarr is married to Elder David Tarr (and engineer) with 5 children and 7 grandchildren. She also provided training to the local OBGYN team, hysteroscopy [procedure to look in the uterus to find the cause of bleeding] and assisting to improve pap smear and mammogram screening.
