Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Governor has sent out a virtual gag order to Executive branch employees and ASG leaders instructing them not to appear for any hearings in the House of Represenativies.
In memorandum 072-23 issued Thursday, Gov. Lemanu P.S. Mauga wrote, “At this time, all testimony by Directors, Agency Heads, and Executive Branch Employees in House of Representative hearings is suspended.
“Those who receive Notices from the House to appear for a hearing are instructed not to attend. Further guidance and instruction on when witness appearances are to resume will be forthcoming as necessary.”
The memo concluced with the instruction to direct any questions or inquiries to the Governor's Office and no further information was available.
Later that day the Governor’s Chief of Staff announced there would be a cabinet meeting this coming Monday at 9a.m. at the ASCC Multi-purpose Center with the notation that only Cabinet members are expected to attend.
