Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Gov. Lemanu Peleti Palepoi Sialega Mauga — during a Friday press conference at the Governor’s Office conference room — gave an update on the first repatriation flight, which arrived on Feb. 1st, with all 159 passengers now going through the required 14-quarantine at the Tradewinds Hotel. He was accompanied by Lt. Gov. Talauega Eleasalo Va’alele Ale and members of the COVID-19 Task Force.
The governor revealed that the passengers, who qualify for the COVID-19 vaccine, would be given the first-dose before they are released on their final day of quarantine. (Some of the passengers are minor children and an infant — who don’t qualify for the vaccine.)
Lemanu also confirmed that all 159 repatriated passengers tested negative for the virus.
More details from the news conference in Monday’s Samoa News edition.
