Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Gov Lemanu P.S. Mauga drew a parallel between his administration’s initiatives on youth and First Samoan Full Gospel Pentecostal Church’s same commitment in his keynote address at the dedication ceremony of the church’s newly constructed Peteli Academy Hall on June 28, 2023.
“This facility and the efforts of the congregation are in harmony with the initiatives of the Administration and stand as a testament to the church leaders’ enduring dedication to nurture, educate, and guide our youth towards a prosperous future,” he said in a press release issued by the Governor’s Office.
“Our youth are facing many obstacles that are not unique to our shores; young people around the world confront issues such as substance abuse, domestic abuse, and various adversities. The Administration stands with the youth in these battles, however, these matters are not the sole responsibility of the government; it is a collaborative endeavor with our community and church leaders, villages, and families. This facility and the efforts of the congregation are in harmony with the initiatives of the Administration, and stand as a testament to the church leaders’ enduring dedication to nurture, educate, and guide our youth towards a prosperous future.”
“Today, we gather here to celebrate a remarkable achievement — a testament to the church leaders’ unfaltering commitment to the future of our youths and families. The journey to build this magnificent hall has not been without its challenges, but I commend you for your unceasing effort to complete it,” Gov Lemanu said in his keynote address. [ASG photo]
The governor further commended the President of the Church, along with its board members and congregations, and volunteers for their hard work, prayers, and resilience in overcoming the challenges over the years and completing the facility.
The Peteli Academy, which consists of an Elementary School, a newly established High School curriculum, and a Bible Academy has provisions for classrooms within the hall, thus enabling a conducive environment for students to learn and grow spiritually and academically.
Distinguished guests at the dedication included Secretary of Samoan Affairs Afioga Mauga Tasi Asuega, President of the Senate Tuaolo Fruean, Speaker of the House Savali Talavou Ale, and members of the Congregation — held at the First Samoan Full Gospel Pentecostal Church (FSFGPC) headquarters in Ottoville, Tafuna.
