A press release from the American Samoa Medical Center Authority, dated Jan. 23, 2024, notes that the transformative upgrade is not just about embracing advanced technology; it signifies a departure from an outdated network that has served for over a decade, and the Board of Directors recognize “the critical importance of staying at the forefront of technological innovation in healthcare.”

Fiber optic internet revolutionizes the speed at which data travels, enabling medical professionals to access and transmit critical information without the risk of downtime.
Additionally, the fiber optic infrastructure enhances data security through encrypted data transmission, ensuring patient confidentiality is maintained at the highest standards.
