FHS CLASS OF 1993 CELEBRATES 30-YEAR REUNION

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Fagaitua High school Class of 1993 made their way back home to American Samoa, to not only celebrate their 30-year reunion, but also to give back to their alumni and their community by donating a gift, in the form of an electronic scoreboard.

During KVZK’s program Manuo, Manuia Savea pointed out that this project was an effort that involved all of their classmates.

It took them two and a half years to put this together when they did their research and evaluation, and came to the conclusion that their old high school needed an electronic scoreboard, so they could transition away from using the old flip-card scorekeeping method they utilize.

And on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023, Fagaitua High school Class of 1993 presented the principal of Fagaitua High school, Suaese Pooch Ta’ase, its staff, faculty and students an electronic scoreboard to commemorate their 30th year reunion and to give back to their alumni school.

This effort was 100% funded by donations from each member of the class of 1993, and it took them a total of 3 years to raise the funds for their gift presentation to their alumni. The class has 33 registered members and 15 members, who are not registered, who donated the necessary funds.

Richard Lemaota, a member of FHS class of 1993, said that 2019 was when they began to elect officers and made plans to figure out what to donate to Fagaitua High school as one of their service initiatives.

The class hosted 2 fundraiser events — po siva — to raise the funds in Las Vegas and in Tacoma. The scoreboard and shipping from Texas to Long Beach then to American Samoa was about 20K.

The FHS Class of 1993 would also like to acknowledge ASPA for installing/ mounting the board in the Fagaitua High School gym.
