Fagatogo fire destroys old Asifoa building

In the wee hours of Wednesday morning, the Department of Public Safety’s Fire Department worked hard to try put out a huge fire at around 3a.m. at the Asifoa building in Fagatogo, located behind the ASTCA communications building. Luckily, the Fire Department contained the fire from spreading to nearby houses and businesses.

A look at the aftermath of the fire that burned down the Asifoa building —firefighters were still securing the area at 5:42a.m. – to make sure the fire was completely out.

The DPS Fire Department has not released an official statement on the cause of the fire. The building is one of Fagatogo’s oldest buildings.
