VILLAGE BEAUTIFICATION COMPETITION  

ASG is sponsoring a Village Beatification Competition with a first prize of $10,000. Criteria for judging includes village sign installation, cleanliness, ecofriendly decorations and displays should show patriotism. Judging period is April 8-12, 2024

A reader told Samoa News that the last village beautification competition was during the Tauese-Togiola administration where Sa’ilele village from the east side was first and the 2nd place was the beautiful village in the west, home to the last sunset in the world, home to the legendary Siamese twins, Taemā & Tilafaigā — Poloa aka Sunsetville

SANCTUARY LOOKS TO FILL ADVISORY COUCIL SEATS

National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa is seeking to fill seats on its advisory council, which represents the public’s interests in sanctuary matters and provides advice to the sanctuary superintendent. The sanctuary is accepting applications for the following seats:

Education, Ocean Recreation/Ecotourism, Business, Community-at-Large: Tutuila West Area, Community-at-Large: Manu’a Islands, and Community-at-Large: Aunu’u Island

The advisory council is composed of 17 voting members and 8 non-voting members, who serve on a volunteer basis and represent a variety of local user groups, the public, and territorial and federal governmental jurisdictions.

VENDOR CALL FOR FLAG DAY FLEA MARKET

The Flag Day Flea Market scheduled for April 11-13 is calling for vendors to setup and sell arts & crafts, retail, food and more. Secure your booth now as only a limited slots are available.

ASTCA SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS

VETERANS TOWN HALL SCHEDULED

The ASG Office of Veterans & Military Affairs Town hall will be held Wed., March 20 from 9a.m. to 12:30p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Center in Tafuna.

FLAG DAY PARADE CALL FOR MARCHING BANDS

Registration is now open for bands for the Flag Day 2024 Parade which will feature the U.S. Marine corps Forces Pacific Band and the Royal Samoa Police Band. The route will be from OMV to the Veterans Memorial Stadium.
