CEPAC officially welcomed

His Excellency Mosese Vitolio Tui and Most Reverend Bishop Kolio Etuale

Pago Pago, American Samoa — The Catholic Diocese of Pago Pago on Monday had the honor of welcoming His Excellency Mosese Vitolio Tui, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Samoa-Apia, who is attending the Episcopal Conference of the Pacific (CEPAC) Plenary Assembly being held at Fatu-o-Aiga.

A respected leader within the Catholic Church, Archbishop Mosese Vitolio Tui has been instrumental in fostering spiritual growth and community service in Samoa.

Known for his dedication to youth vocational development and education, he has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of people in his archdiocese.

Archbishop Mosese served as the main celebrant at Tuesday morning's mass at 6 AM, to be held at Fatuoaiga Cathedral.

Upon his arrival at the airport, he was greeted by Most Reverend Bishop Kolio Etuale, the Diocese Chancellor and Media Chairman Fr. Pio Afu, Father Andrew Wilson, the Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary (SMSM), and the Diocese VIP Committee.

The Diocese of Samoa- Pago Pago is hosting CEPAC, from August 5th to August 11th.

CEPAC consists of 16 jurisdictions: 14 dioceses (five archdioceses) and the Prefecture Apostolic of the Marshall Islands, along with Missio Sui Iuris of Funafuti and Tokelau.

Delegates started arriving this past Sunday.

A welcoming liturgical Mass will be held at the Holy Family Cathedral, Fatuoaiga on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 to officially open the week-long conference.

The meeting anticipates engagements and discussions on challenges and opportunities currently impacting the church and its communities within the Pacific region. The assembly aims to promote Christ’s Way and Church Tradition across the Pacific’s multicultural landscape.

The episcopal members will be assigned to various parishes within the local diocese. They will preside over and preach during the Sunday morning Masses on August 10, 2025. The conference will officially conclude with a closing Mass at the Holy Family Cathedral on the same day.
