Attorney General Talauega attends UN Decolonization meeting

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Attorney General Talauega Eleasalo Ale departed American Samoa late last week for the United Nation Decolonization Committee’s 2018 Pacific Regional Seminar at St. George’s, Grenada, which is located in the Caribbean with a population of about 33,000 people.

The seminar is set for May 9-11 and Talauega is representing Gov. Lolo Matalasi Moliga as well as presenting for American Samoa. The seminar is the venue where American Samoa will again clarify its relationship with the United States.

During last year’s Caribbean Seminar hosted by St. Vincent and the Grenadines, it was Tapaau Dr. Daniel Aga, executive director of the ≈, Constitution and Federal Relations, who presented for the governor.

Tapaau has been conducting public awareness programs in public and private schools on a wide-range of topics regarding American Samoa’s political status and its relationship with the US.

These programs have been encouraged by the governor to ensure that the community has a full understanding of these important matters. 

And during a cabinet meeting late last month, the governor noted the Summer Youth Summit scheduled for July this year to explore issues such as political status and American Samoa’s relationship with the United States.
