ASG’s Hawaii Office announces plans for the 2024 Samoan Heritage Festival

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — At a town hall held on Nov. 2, ASG’s Hawaii office announced plans for the 2024 Samoan Heritage Festival that is slated for Ke’ehi Lagoon Park in June 2024.

Director Tuiafono Vaiuli Sua Jr., opened the meeting at the Kanana Fou “Mo Oe” Hall in Kunia, north of downtown Honolulu with opening remarks made by Dr. Afu Lefaoseu where he outlined the festival schedule.

The festival will commence on June 15, 2024, with a parade and Cultural Games. Subsequent events include the Spiritual Night or Fa’aevagalia and the Heritage Festival opening church service on June 16, 2024, followed by a Cultural or Aganu’u Night featuring local community performances on June 17, 2024.

The finale on June 18, 2024 will be marked by an International Night, culminating the Heritage Festival with a celebration.

As a side note, the Heritage Cricket League was announced set to begin in April through June 2024 at Ke’ehi Lagoon park with games scheduled every Saturday of the month.

Director Tuiafono Vaiuli Sua Jr., expressed his gratitude towards the resilient members of the Samoan Community who united in support of Hawaii's Governor Dr. Josh Green and the people of Hawai’i, during the Samoan Community Maui Relief Drive. A collective effort by the local churches culminated in a generous donation of $35,250 along with 44 pallets of essential items including toiletries, canned goods, baby supplies, and water, all directed to the Maui Relief Storage Facility.

Guest speaker Adrienne Camacho representing Pacific Commercial Services, Inc., shared details about their current recruitment drive. Pacific Commercial Services, Inc. is actively seeking candidates for the positions of Field tech and CDL Tech, with plans to extend their search to American Samoa.

In attendance were Reverends, Pastors, Veterans and Representatives of different organizations.
