Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — ASG Treasurer Malemo Tausaga, in a brief statement last week Thursday afternoon, announced that the 5th batch of tax refunds — more than $1.4million — is scheduled for release today, Tuesday, Apr. 19.
A total of 316 taxpayers who filed Feb. 3, will be getting their refunds —with 30 individuals through direct deposit, 232 by mail, and 54 individuals who don’t have a mailing address on their tax returns will pick up the refund at the Treasury Disbursing Office on the ground floor of the A.P. Lutali Executive Office Building — where social distancing and wearing a face mask is strictly enforced.
Of the total of more than $1.45 million in tax refunds, $307,305 is paid from locally collected funds and over 1.15 million from the Additional Child Tax Credit, which is funded by the US Internal Revenue Service.
If you are expecting a tax refund and did not receive it, call the Tax Office for further information and assistance. “Do not visit the office,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, Samoa News reminds tax filers that the Tax Office — through an ASG Treasury announcement last month — has already extended tax filing due dates for the following submissions:
• Information Returns that were due on Feb. 28 are extended to June 30;
• Corporate and Partnership Tax Returns due on Mar. 15 are extended to July 15; and
• Individual Tax Returns, due on Apr. 15 are extended to July 15.
