Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Local students ranging from kindergarten to high school got together at the Tauese P.F. Sunia Ocean Center on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 to celebrate Conservation Arts Day by highlighting through art, the importance of conserving and protecting endangered marine species.
Christina Hudson of Samoa Baptist Academy won first place for Division 6-8 of the ESO@50 Art Competition — with “Think of Us”.

The ESO@50 Art Competition was a special event honoring the 50th anniversary of the Endangered Species Act, and celebrating 50 years of protecting marine life in the Pacific region as mandated in the legislation.
Other winners were:
1st Place "Protect These Gentle Giants" by Mary C. Grade 11; 2nd Place "Horu" by Deborah V. Grade 11; and, 3rd Place "Coral Reef" by Isley F. Grade 12. [photos: Isabel H. NMSAS]
