Another COVID-19 Task Force member appointed

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Gov. Lemanu Peleti Palepoi Sialega Mauga, through a Feb. 2nd memorandum, appointed a new member to the government COVID-19 Task Force, increasing the membership to over 30 — representing both public and private sector.

“To better coordinate our response to the pandemic,” Lemanu appointed acting Police Commissioner Foifua Foifua Jr., as a new task force member. Lemanu said he looks forward to Foifua’s “input as he helps keep the Territory safe.”

Also on Feb. 2nd, the Governor’s Office released a video message, on the ASG Facebook page, reminding the public of the new requirement making it mandatory to wear face masks and observe social distancing in government, private sector and organizations. The requirement also applies to aiga buses and taxis.

Both Health Department and LBJ Medical Center remind the public that entrance into their facilities requires all persons to wear masks. At the government’s A.P. Lutali Executive Office Building in Utulei, wearing masks is also required.
