Amata attends press conference with Gold Star families

Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata attended a House Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC) press conference with Gold Star families Monday at the U.S. Capitol for the discussion of the 350-page official report on the Afghanistan withdrawal.

The report makes numerous recommendations for the future, and urges the declassification of the investigation into the Abbey Gate attack, the location of the loss of 13 Service Members’ lives and 45 wounded.

For this investigation and report, HFAC held seven hearings and roundtables, conducted 18 transcribed interviews, and examined over 20,000 pages of documents obtained by subpoena.

The press conference was led by Chairman Michael McCaul of Texas.
