2021 JROTC rifle competition set for Dec. 10

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The local Department of Education says that the 2021 JROTC Air Rifle competition, hosted by Samoana High School, will be held  at Tafuna Elementary Gymnasium from 7:30a.m to 2p.m on Dec. 10th.

Four JROTC schools will be participating — Samoana High School, Leone High School, Tafuna High School and Fagaitua High School.

The competition consists of three firing positions — prone, standing and kneeling). Each competitor gets 10 pellets to shoot at 10 targets.  Scoring is determined by where the competitors' pellets hit in relation to the target, with a max of 100 points for each firing position.

According to ASDOE, there will be a total of 16 competitors from each school with two alternates each, for a total of 18 competitors.
