Wishing all a “Green” Merry Christmas

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Some businesses in the territory this year are celebrating a “GREEN” Christmas by re-using our trash — such as used tires, old wood pallets, and empty plastic bottles — to create Christmas decorations.

Instead of trashing wood pallets, workers with one of the departments at StarKist Samoa used the pallets to create small Christmas trees — as seen in this Samoa News photo above taken earlier this week — and then they were decorated and posted on the side of the cannery plant for the holiday season.

At Tropical Pizza and Tropical Chicken Restaurant at the Tafuna Industrial Park, used tires were painted in various colors and then piled up to form a Christmas tree, with colorful decorations, along with a Christmas wreath (right), also using a used tire and decorated. Used tires were also used in other holiday displays including a snowman — at the same compound.
