“GOD HELP AMERICA”

Dear Editor,

I am 82 years old and have lived under 12 different U.S. Presidents, beginning with Franklyn D. Roosevelt, and I have watched the elections of almost that many.  Sometimes I have been disappointed at the outcome, but never have I experienced the deep sense of foreboding that I felt Tuesday night as it became clear that Trump would win the Presidency.  

I have to admit that I vastly underestimated the extent of the gross ignorance of the U.S. electorate.  Now we will all have to swallow the bitter fruit of that unfortunate harvest.  Our nation used to joyously sing “God Bless America”, now sadly, many of us are praying “God HELP America”.
